I feel like faux leather leggings might seem a little scary to wear when it’s something that you aren’t used to…am I right? I remember getting my first pair of faux leather leggings way back when I was a senior in high school and they were not a common thing where I grew up, but I loved to rock them with dresses. And while I am absolutely in love with this wine-colored pair, I did have to think about it a little bit and try on a couple of looks before I figured out just how I wanted to wear them.

As you may have noticed from some of my recent style posts,  wine (or maroon, burgundy, etc.) is a staple in my closet. I love how it pairs with black and gray, but is subtle and a lovely color for faux leather without being ‘too much.’ When I wear leggings, I know I want a top that’s long enough to cover all that needs to be covered, and this cozy marled number paired pretty perfectly with faux leather and suede boots for a little extra “oomph” if I wanted to wear this for a date night.

Can we talk about these boots, by the way? Talk about a great Christmas gift that my husband picked up for me! I’ve been searching for a great pair of black boots and tried these on while we were doing a little shopping with our family one weekend. Sneaky went back and got them for me and they’re such a great pair of boots!

Three Tips for Styling Faux Leather Leggings

  1. Pair them with a longer sweater or top. (I promise you’ll feel more comfortable, too.)
  2. Balance the look with a simpler piece on top. Let your leggings be the statement piece!
  3. Pick the right pair of shoes. I opt for a great pair of boots in the winter.
